Verona, once a small farming community, has experienced rapid growth. The 2012 census reported a population of 11,212 residents, a 59% increase since 2000. Fitchburg, established as a city in 1983 and now the second largest city in Dane County, is home to 25,895 residents—almost a 26.3% increase from the 2000 census.

The communities provide Verona Area High School with a dynamic and diverse student population. September 2014 enrollment was 1589 students with a demographic diversity of 72% Caucasian, 5% Asian/Pacific Islander, 11% African American, 11% Hispanic, and 1% Native American.

Both communities benefit from opportunities offered by nearby Madison, the State capital and home of the University of Wisconsin, Edgewood College, Madison Area Technical College, and other vocational training institutions.

Of the 387 graduates of the Class of 2013, 62% of the students enrolled in a four-year college or university after graduation, and 21% enrolled in a two-year or technical college program.

Verona also offers many excellent public facilities including an impressive library, a popular senior center, numerous park shelters, and a swimming beach located at Fireman’s Park. The Verona Area School District has a strong reputation for providing quality education and is home to the Verona Performing Arts Center and Natatorium. Verona is also a great place for business from the specialty shops in our downtown to the corporate headquarters of a worldwide healthcare software company.

For foodies, Verona restaurants offer delicious fare. Wine, cheese – even tequilia tastings- are commonly offered at one of our fine, local establishments. From hometown comfort food to local farm-fresh take out, Verona has it all. Whether you want to sit down and enjoy a hearty meal, take something back to your hotel room, or grab a snack to eat in the car, you’ll find it here. If your tastes run toward the southwest, Chinese, Italian or just a good-old American burger, a Verona restaurant will satisfy your urge. Don’t forget dessert!

Verona’s athletic facilities are some of the finest in the state. Want to go for a swim? The Verona Area High School Natatorium, the Goodman Aquatic Center and Fireman’s Park and Beach are all wonderful places to get your feet wet. For ice skaters and hockey players there’s the Eagle’s Nest Ice Arena. Soccer fans can enjoy the newly re-designed Reddan Soccer Park. Baseball fans, will enjoy the impressive Verona Little League Baseball-Softball Complex. The University Ridge Golf Course is a few minutes north of Verona and offers a good challenge for golfers. Verona also boasts a beautiful public library, a convenient senior center and Rhapsody Arts Center. Each year Verona holds its annual festival, Hometown Days, the second weekend in June, featuring a carnival, parade, fireworks, live music, food, games and much, much more. The Ironman Wisconsin Triathlon/Verona Loop goes through Verona in September. People from all over the world compete in this event.
